Facebook Facelift concept demo

Obviously, as we have been reminded only days ago, everyone would lose their damn minds if this ever came to fruition but THIS is the Facebook I’d love to see.  So very clean and mindful of design etiquette.  Plus, the Live Feed ticker at the bottom would certainly ease the attacks of in-your-face nonsense of the homepage.

Locus OS concept demo

This gentleman, Barton Smith, is pretty brilliant.  Location-based modular computing seems to be the wave of the future that everyone keeps hinting at but not actually gunning toward.  All he needs now is the deep-pocketed partner to spring for it.

Note: Microsoft is not affiliated with this project whatsoever.  The name was simply inserted for effect.

What's so great about google wave?

(via victoriajean)

It’s pretty neat for collaborative work as far as creative professionals go.  I’m sure it’ll take a while (and some bright ideas) for it to really catch on, mainstream, but I can tell you that it’s the perfect kind of thing for myself and fellow designers who need to collab over long distances.

I think what really makes it work is the openness of it.  It’s the digital analogy of a wide open drawing surface.

Would every DJ I know and love shun me if I said I want to make THIS my next big musical investment?  I know it’s Serato and the starting point for all these fake DJs out there but I promise I’ll play off technique and not software!
Plus, it’s motorised AND uses vinyl platters!  Now to just find $1700 bucks.

I’m thinking hard about getting a netbook (hp mini) because of Moblin.  It’s looking pretty sweet and a secondary laptop could definitely be useful for me as a creative pro.  I could, first of all, get my MacBook running as my power-computer for art and music.  I could also carry the netbook around with me to take notes in class and quick uploads when I go on photoshoots.

Seriously, that first Zack Morris joint is the size of a small monkey.  Jinkies!

Wall-E computer case mod.
The only detail that irks me about this is that Wall-E is a Mac (as evidenced by his startup chime) and this is clearly a PC mod.
