Right now I’m using the latest build of Windows 7 OS with fairly new parts to back it up. My 8800 graphics card is more then enough for what I do with my computer. Though, I’m still thinking about buying an iMac for the sake of aesthetics and stability since this computer with any build of Windows crashes a lot.  Anyone with a Mac have any input?

I know fairly close to zip about computers.  However, I can tell you this much: I just got the 13” MacBook, and it’s like having a new toy.  It’s fun to play around with. (: I’m not sure what you’re using it for, but my younger sister has had her iMac for just less than a year and she says Microsoft Office is crucial for assignments and whatnot.

Personally, I like it so far.  I haven’t actually needed to use it for work yet, nor do I actually have a lot of gaming software!  One thing I do find, though, is that Firefox = faster than Safari.

Plus, the built-in microphone + webcam is handy, although this is something you can get with other computers too.  This one’s pretty decent.

I like mine!  That’s all I really wanted to tell you :)

Fun fact: Microsoft Office for Mac = irrelevant.  It’s bulky, slow and ugly; not to mention expensive.  If you really don’t need Entourage (and you don’t), save $40 and buy iWork instead.  It does everything you could ever want to do in Office (Word, Powerpoint and Excel), it’s lightweight, faster and SIGNIFICANTLY cleaner looking (since clearly Apple aesthetic is a nominal factor here).

Furthermore, as I’m guessing you’re a graphics pro, it’s the best decision you’ll ever make.  The colours are so crisp and the multitude of preinstalled RGB and CMYK profiles make for easy work!

Actually firefox as of late has been having issues… alot of issue’s, where as safari 4.0 has been a shining light in this internet exploring darkness; though firefox handles bookmarks so much better than safari ever has. But that’s just my opinion. And since I don’t really use iWork i can’t comment on it but Microsoft office for mac 2008 isn’t as “clunky” as it used to be, and blends much better, aesthetically. But again this is all my opinon. I’ll try out iWork and see if it’s worth the praise though.

Certainly you’re joking?  That toolbar alone in Word is enough to make one consider gouging their eyes out.  General rule of thumb in application design: if your multi-layered toolbar has multiple layers of tabs and THEN a floating sidebar, you need to bring it down a notch.  I understand there are all kinds of wonderful formatting things (wedding invitations, flyers, etc.) but it’s really absurd how much users are being bombarded with at once.
