On opportunity knock-knock-knocking.

As I mentioned some time ago, I have some good news.  It would seem my persistence and efforts in my music “career” haven’t gone unnoticed.  A couple weeks ago, I was approached by a management agency, HearSay Music, and signed to them.  In short, I now have representation.  Sort of.

So, actually, some kids in the Radio & Television Arts program at Ryerson University have a course in which they have to find an unsigned artist in the Toronto area and manage them, ultimately prepping them to submit to a label A&R who their professor will be bringing in.  One of my Twitter followers/followees, @katekillet (who happens to be the best friend of the younger sister of one of my friends from Costa Rica/one-time travel buddy of another friend of mine) is in said program and got at me about it.  After I was given the breakdown of what’s about to happen over the current semester (photoshoots, bio, press kit, possible video, live gigs, et al), I met up with the rest of the group and signed on.

Now, it’s not so much the fact that I’m having all these things taken care of for me that really make this so great.  It’s more the fact that there’s actually a group of 5 other people I’d never met before actually think my music is great enough to want to stake their time and grades on it.  It’s the fact that they’re so vocal about it and bring excitement to what I do, every single day.  I have a hard enough time getting my own friends out to gigs or to talk about my music so 5 strangers telling me, multiple times a day, every day, how great this or that is has done wonders for my confidence.

Anyway, keep it locked right here because I’ll be blogging through the semester!  Thanks again to HearSay Music.  You guys are champions.
